Stupid Libtard Obama tries to close the ocean

Only a libtard would think this up. They spend more money trying to prevent citizens from attending open air memorials and going to the ocean than what it would cost NOT to have government personnel doing this shit!

Dumb as a rock strikes again, what a douche.

So I'll address a few obvious unproven, wild-ass guess items.

The government will probably use more personnel and spend more resources to attempt to close the ocean, than it would in its normal course of business.
Probably? He doesn't know how many are normally on duty and he doesn't know how many it takes to close it.

How, pray tell, do you "close" 1,100 square miles of ocean?

I don't know exactly how they will do it but one way they could is put a couple of Coast Guard cutters on patrol. He makes it sound out of the question to be able to patrol but it's only about 32 miles by 32 miles. A drop in the bucket compared tp our coastal waters.

Apparently, according to an anonymous Park Service ranger, “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”

Amazing how people are willing to say anything, true or false, when they are anonymous.

Centuries ago, King Canute famously failed to command the ocean tide to stop. His display was actually a means to educate his subjects on the limits of royal power. Today, however, our President actually believes he has the power to control the oceans.

And here comes his hanging curve ball. His historical example has nothing to do with his premise. He equates stopping a motion on a planetary scale with control of human movement on the surface or below it. Our President believes he has the power because he does. He is the commander of the US Navy, a global force for good. Or it is a global force for kicking ass.

All in all, he doesn't know shit about the subject matter other than bitching for bitching sake. He wears his ignorance like a badge of honor and loves to display it.

He's not even very good at it.

Once again, I see that apparently no one on this board actually understands how the decisions on what is shut down are made and why. Guess what, can you say legally mandated by federal law. Yep, that's right folks. Unless something already has the funds allocated, the DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS, can be subject to fines and/or imprisonment. The only exemptions to the shutdown concern "emergencies involving the safety of human life or the protection of property". This little 19th century gem is know as the Antideficiency Act.

From the GAO website:

The Antideficiency Act prohibits federal employees from

making or authorizing an expenditure from, or creating or authorizing an obligation under, any appropriation or fund in excess of the amount available in the appropriation or fund unless authorized by law. 31 U.S.C. § 1341(a)(1)(A).
involving the government in any obligation to pay money before funds have been appropriated for that purpose, unless otherwise allowed by law. 31 U.S.C. § 1341(a)(1)(B).
accepting voluntary services for the United States, or employing personal services not authorized by law, except in cases of emergency involving the safety of human life or the protection of property. 31 U.S.C. § 1342.
making obligations or expenditures in excess of an apportionment or reapportionment, or in excess of the amount permitted by agency regulations. 31 U.S.C. § 1517(a).
Federal employees who violate the Antideficiency Act are subject to two types of sanctions: administrative and penal. Employees may be subject to appropriate administrative discipline including, when circumstances warrant, suspension from duty without pay or removal from office. In addition, employees may also be subject to fines, imprisonment, or both.

This was reported on last Tuesday.

Yes, even though the actual decisions are made within each department, I am sure there is still quite a bit of politicking going on.
