I don't know if burning down the house violates standard procedure or not. It sounds like a good idea to me. I think he shot a police officer from inside the house. They should have burned it sooner.

Would you have the same attitude if he had a hostage with him inside? Also, despite appearances, we don't know that it was him that died in the cabin yet. Hopefully he is the only person that was there but we need to wait the ID. If I wanted to appear dead to complete an escape fire or water would be one of my choices.
