FBI local field office phone call

This is first for me, couple of days ago I got 8-10 missed calls from a phone number that I didn’t recognize. Well I searched the number and its local FBI field office. I was not able to answer the call and no voicemail was left.

My first reaction was oh crap, why the hell I am getting call from them, I thought I should call back the field office and ask them why they are calling me?

But then I cooled down and I feel this is an attempt to scan by spoofing caller ID. I just wanted to post here and see what you guys think?

That's an interesting one. It could absolutely be a spoof. Spoofing has been on the increase lately, it seems. One would think if it was the FBI they would either leave your a message or do a house call as opposed to repeatedly calling you and not leaving a message.

I read few stories on internet where this has happened to other folks, it’s usually a scam which aims to threaten people in giving money.
I have to wait and see if I still keep getting calls.
