Anyone know How to Have a GIF Avatar???

...those who do know always "have someone else" make their Avatar show as a GIF and I have been wanting to do so for years.

Any ladies or gents know how its done??

Can someone post a link to how they did it?
I know there are gif animators online. Just wondering if there is a more streamlined way to do it than having to resize every image and etc etc.

How do I get it to repeat? So far it only loops once.
Maybe I'll have to try a different generator.
