That's horrible news and I hope they find everyone alive and kicking as I know several offshore workers down that way.....

Giz is still afloat... safe and sound! As usual.... have received a bunch of notes, messages, and calls..... Gulf of Mexico is a big place though.

We all hope the eleven are found to be okay, and just unaccounted for.... conflicting local reports...

I hate to be presumptuous.... but the word we're getting "out here".... judging from the early descriptions of the event we've heard so far.... the unfortunate "eleven" were most likely those on the Drill Floor at the time of the "event". In other words.... those in the immediate vicinity of the release. Very sad and tragic!! Just another reason (of several) I have never liked being around drill rigs!

Giz
the talk is they were on a life boat, and looking for the boat, which has a beacon on it,i talked to the safety man for a rig about 800 yards away for ensco offshore and he said it was on the drill floor, and divers were trying to cap a pipe so they could get the fire out and go on the rig
It's scary enough being on the drill floor under normal conditions - trust me! My prayers go out to the families

Let me point out that it's important to respect the privacy of members of the board. If Joe Driller is injured in an accident, he'd really hate it if he gets out of the hospital and finds he's lost his wife and kids because someone posted on this board about about him being injured.

i usually spend most the year in the gulf. have been on many rigs that have taken kicks, and there are ways to prevent this sort of thing. i would like to know what happened.
