If it's been over 60 minutes, it's too late to edit. You can try hitting the REPORT TO POST icon that's in left frame under your handle and looks like a triangle outlined in RED with a straight black line in the middle: 
Explain that you accidentally posted a PM in a thread instead of as a PRIVATE MESSAGE and would they be so kind as to remove it immediately for you.
