Angie's List/Finding Providers You Can Trust
I had heard of Angie's List a few years back and wondered if there was anyway that I could advertise there. Then yesterday, a friend of mine mentioned Angie's list in regards to looking for a car.
Does anyone use Angie's List? Is it worth the $15 to join? I'm thinking of joining but I'm wondering under "services" if there is any personal service that I could utilize in terms of escorting.
I'm always looking for interesting places to advertise and just was curious if others thought of this as even being an option.

Its free for a business to list and advertise on Angie's list. Go check it out. The users of the service pay for access, not the merchants.
Bubba,
I've looked through it and haven't found any place for an escort to advertise. Of course, I could improvise! I was hoping that it might become another place that escorts could utilize.
But I'll go back and recheck it out!
Hugs,
Elisabeth
I have never used it. I signed up for it once... but then they required the fee for me to see any reviews... I never went back...
It's around $15.00 for the first month joining fee and then around $5.00 a month to see everything as a customer afterwards. Not bad if you don't have a regular plumber or a dentist, etc., but probably not worth it if you're not in the market for that sort of thing.
I'm just trying to figure out a way to advertise MY services on it!
EW I'm not so sure I would do that. That site is for "legit" businesses. I'm not so sure I'd be putting myself out there to make myself an easier target. I dunno.
In line with hotlips, I would think that the kind of people who take the time to review a business on a list like that would also take the time to report you, get your ad pulled, and probably complain to LE.
Fair enough. Another one crossed off of my list!
Thanks,
Elisabeth
I dislike Angie's list . . . not one roofer I called came out. I hope they get fisted, no lube.
Service Magic is just as bad.
Not to hijack but, I've had great success with Service Magic. I've used it three times and got several calls each time. I had work completed each time and was very happy with the results. Once for plumbing, once for electrical and once for painting.
Forgot one more time for house cleaning after my house keeper quit on short notice.
Angies List seems like an upsell to me (and like most hobbyists, I hate that). It's $X to join but then an additional $X for certain business reviews (i.e. Doctors). Told them I wasn't going to pay twice or again after signing up and got my money back.
I had the same experience as most of you. Far too pricey for a consumer and far too few services in the desired category. I was drawn to them because of their ad on house cleaners. They led you to believe you could find individuals with personal recommendations. All I found was commercial services priced far too high for simple house cleaning.
After I cancelled my membership, they offered 1/2 off! Still, that is a lot for something you can get free from the BBB.
The only problem is the BBB businesses can pay for good scores. The BBB has no more credibility.

That's crappy.
We need our own "Angie's List".
I'd almost be willing to be vetted by one "Angie" who would then know what I look for and who would ONLY send me ads and info on that type or provider.
Yes I can scan and search on ECCIE or P411 but when a new girl joins P411 there is no way to get notified if she is a spinner who does BBBJ and loves DATY at my desired price point.
But if there was a "clearinghouse" where "Angie" could match up what guys want with the girls and send a list then hell yeah.
"Angie" would have to be very organized and it would take some time to get it set up, maybe a couple weeks, but once rolling, it could be very easy. Members would not only seen a P411 handle and vetting but also need additional screening so that someone like a Duncan Idaho doesn't slime his way on the client list.
What do other guys think about an idea like that?
