First thing I check for ..
I have to make sure the clock radio has the right time
and the alarm is off and at night the brightness is turned down
or I have to put something over it so my room at night is dark

Then a put a towel under the door at night helps keep some noise out
always seems the door's have a gap's at hotels no matter if 3 1/2to5 star
and Make sure thee drapes are closed tight at night
guess i'm like a Vampier
at home I sleep in a dark cave room
I keep ear plugs with me at all times.. some guest don't know how to act
when straying at hotels ..

get more towels wash cloths bath mat and extra things ..

If there is an adjoining room door, make sure the door is locked. Found that door unlocked on two occasions.

Make sure to lock and chain the door before I go to bed. I woke up to a door closing to my room once. Didn't think anything of it until security came knocking at my door asking why I was in the room. They got a good earful. Apparently the front desk person couldn't figure out how to use the computer and a couple got a good eyeful of me sleeping in my underwear. Got my rooms comped and a lot of free goodies out of it. I guess I could have been murdered in my sleep that day. I always bolt and lock the doors now. Never know the idiots you are dealing with.

I travel quite a bit for work and always leave the bathroom light on, and leave the door open a crack. So, when it comes to my 3am pee break, I know where I'm going.

yes the door I keep locked at all time double lock it with the flip over bolt
I use my phone as a light for 2 am pee.....

I open up and unplug those noisy cheap-ass fart fans in the bathroom that come on automatically when you turn on the light.
I forget, it's all habit, 11 months out of the year I live in them.

No shit holes... 4 star or better, that gets rid of most common problems, noise, smoke and crappy bathrooms.

I stay close to good places to eat, that are close to where I will be working.

for me I just need no bright light's on in the room and black out drapes
nice bed and sheets and some fun going on ..
Normally when I stay at a nice hotel like Wynns Las Vegas, I tip the check in person $50 to upgrade me to the highest and best room I can get....last trip to Wynn..i was on the top floor with floor to ceiling windows ...you could see the strip helicopter tour guys dipping down just past my window......great view of the strip....just sat and watched the people and the strip for a while.....always tip the person checking you in....it can pay off big time......my brother had a suite at Wynns on the 35th floor .....my single room was on the 60th floor.....best $50 I spent there....

It's nice to see some shared habits feel a little less weird.
I no longer travel like I used too but one of my oddities was carrying pliers and a normal shower head. Something about those hotel low flow setups never felt right to me

My ear plugs and my sleeping mask is a must.

Oh and I bring my favorite blankie with me and I NEVER sit on the bedspread without a towel under me. Who knows how many naked fat asses have been on the bedspread.

I bring my own sheets to put on top of the bed ..
for my guest and then go raid the housekeeping cart for more and change it out after each guest ,, right now where I'm at the housekeeping room if left open
so free for all at night ,,,,

buy putting a towel by the gap on the door really helps for out side noise
seem's all level of hotels door's have that gap ..
I put out the do not disturb sign, first and foremost, then I adjust the room temp. Good to go

I pull off the bedspread and use clorox wipes to wipe everything down. There are a couple of other things I look at to get an overall sense of how clean a place is, not sure why, I guess I'm a bit of a germ a phobe

I keep a pair of pliers in my travel bag in case the shower head has one of those low flow water restrictor valves. Nothing worse than a bad shower when on the road.
