INFORMAL GATHERING

Hey, our region is starting to finally grow a bit.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in having an informal social--maybe drinks and snacks at a bar or club.

Staying completely within the board rules of NO FORMAL CONNECTION TO ECCIE I am just looking for those interested. If enough respond I will post a general invite and John Bull can lock it down and we will handle the rest via PM/email.

I am down in cincy and could find a decent place to host here, but I think most of you are from elsewhere. I would NOT "entered by a helper elf" be opposed to doing something up near Dayton. If that is still not feasible, I will be in CBUS later this month, but it is a working trip and might have to be a little bit later in the evening.

This would just be a light fun social, nothing over the top. Safety and discretion will be planned for.

LOL, I wish I could throw a party like that again RR--not this year--maybe we will have the numbers for one next year.

I am available to put something small together in CBUS (somewhere around Worthington or Polaris, perhaps?) 3/23 thru 3/26. This would be nothing fancy. I will be up there that week working two different conventions--my days are slammed but if we start after 7:00 PM I should be fine.

Let's keep the thread open long enough to see if there is enough interest and to get a consensus on the best area of town and day of the week, then John bull if you would do the honors and shut it down after we get that, we can nail the location and time and do the rest from PMs.

So who is in for later next week, and what day and area works best for you?

This will be a very small scale version, but I will bring a few door prizes and we can have a raffle and a contest or two--small not big!!!!! LOL!!!

Hope you are able to get some of these lurkers off their butts. LOL If the stars align and I have an excuse, I might show up myself for a bit. Just to have a pint with the lads y'know.

Okay. . .

I have a great location in the northern suburbs of CBUS in mind--very easy to get to from a number of parts of town, yet secluded and quiet enough on most weeknights to be intimate.

It has great food and drink specials. . .tropical theme. . .I don't know about you but i could use a beach party atmosphere about now. . .all we need to do is come up with a night that is most convenient for all.

Please provide input and we will get this ball rolling!

Once we get enough agreement on a night next week, we will throw the invite up and lock the thread--everything else will be done via PM including a password for safe mingling.

Obviously this is not a site sanctioned event. It is not official in any shape or form. It is just an informal mixer; a group of like-minded people going to the same bar at the same time to have a drink and a snack and meet one another.

With that said, perhaps we should take a moment and discuss screening or at least minimum level of status in the hobby to participate if there is any. I am wide open to input from folks in this area. since invites will be handled via PM, I thought it prudent to offer folks a chance to weigh in on this, if there are either ideas or concerns.

Well, it does not look like we have enough interest to do much of anything--maybe by early summer we will have enough folks to organize something.
