Cherish your loved ones

Today we buried my uncle and a positive thing is contact between the family has been reestablished and we have vowed to keep in touch so our children grow up knowing each other. So please make peace with people you have disagreed with and make amends because you never know if you will have the opportunity to ever see them again. Be it family or friends. Make peace and make the most of the time you have.
My condolences for the loss of our uncle. That is such a true statement. I have some family members what have not spoken to each other in over 20 years. You would think time heals all wounds.

It's always nice to hear that joy has come from the pain. My nickel's worth of free advice...follow through on the pledge!

I've heard the same thing in my world...several times...only to see everyone go on their own way again once the immediate sense of loss & grief has passed.

I know exactly what you are talking about.

About 30 years ago, my uncle, who was the unofficial patriarch of our family was diagnosed with cancer. I spent a great deal of time in contacting the various nephews and niece. The niece and I were virtually inseparable when younger.

Our meeting with our uncle was almost like a duty that was required rather than a family gathering.

My greatest regret in life has been since that time that we let ourselves get too busy to allow our family ties keep us together.

I hope that you will not make the same mistake.

my deepest condolences....
