Six major cities on pace to pass historic 2021 violent crime totals halfway through 2022

Violent crimes are on the rise in six of America's major cities and set to outpace the already historic levels of 2021 violent crime.

Baltimore, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Atlanta, and New York City are all on pace to break their 2021 levels of violent crime halfway through this year, with the nation's largest city leading the group, according to crime data reviewed by Fox News. New York City has seen a 25.8% jump in violent crime at this point in 2022 compared to the same time in 2021, despite seeing a small decrease in the amount of homicides recorded in the city.

Violent crime, which is typically defined as homicide, rape, assault, and robbery, had already been on the rise since 2020. Homicides have been one of the factors driving up rates of violent crime, rising 30% from 2019 to 2020 and another 5% between 2020 and 2021.

Just one of many examples. This individual has been RELEASED

Lynch: “If New Yorkers want to know why the chaos in the transit system is not improving more quickly — this is why. The criminals underground know they can get in a brawl, choke a cop and be back out in hours… Cops are putting ourselves on the line to make the subways safer, but we are feeling abandoned by a justice system that won’t back us up.”

Seems the people in Baltimore, one of the cities on this list, are fed up with their lax on crime DA

Baltimore prosecutor Marilyn Mosby defeated in primary

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Marilyn Mosby, a high-profile prosecutor who aligned herself with criminal justice reformers but ended up with legal problems of her own, has lost the Democratic primary for Baltimore state’s attorney to Ivan Bates, a defense attorney.

Baltimore is heavily Democratic, and there is no Republican candidate in the race. Roya Hanna is an unaffiliated candidate who has filed to run in November’s general election.

“Today, Baltimore decided it was time for a change,” Bates wrote on Twitter. “An enormous thank you to all of my supporters. I recognize that the job of helping build a safer Baltimore is a tremendous challenge. I am ready to lead — and to work with collaborators of all stripes to help make that a reality.”

Mosby, who was a two-term incumbent, rose to national prominence in 2015 when she pursued criminal charges against six police officers in the death of Freddie Gray, a Black man who suffered a spinal injury after police handcuffed, shackled and placed him headfirst into a van. His death triggered riots and protests. None of the officers was convicted.

In January, a grand jury indicted Mosby on two counts each of perjury and making a false statement on a loan application in purchasing a home in Kissimmee, Florida, and a condominium in Long Boat Key, Florida. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The indictment accuses Mosby of falsely stating that the COVID-19 pandemic harmed her finances so she could withdraw $90,000 from her city retirement account. Mosby’s gross salary in 2020 was over $247,000 and never was reduced, according to the indictment.

Bates, who is managing partner of the Baltimore law firm Bates and Garcia, worked as a prosecutor in Baltimore from 1996 to 2002 before becoming a defense attorney. He campaigned on his experience, emphasizing the city needed a change in leadership with ethical, transparent and effective prosecution.

Bates also defeated Thiru Vignarajah, a former assistant attorney general.

Violent crime has been particularly stark in Baltimore in recent years. There have been more than 300 homicides in each of the past seven years. Earlier this year, Maryland’s largest city experienced its deadliest January in nearly half a century with 36 homicides.

Disgraceful anti-police hatred on display in yet another Democrat-run city

“In the last four days, officers have been shot at, had suspects fight with them, run over by a vehicle and another almost run over” according to Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell

Portland's chief of police took to social media to plead with members of the community to stop violent acts against the city's officers after a string of violent incidents over the past week.

"The violence shown last night toward officers and over the weekend is shocking and reprehensible," Portland Chief of Police Chuck Lovell posted on Twitter Tuesday. "In the last four days, officers have been shot at, had suspects fight with them, run over by a vehicle and another almost run over."

The post comes after officers in the city have had multiple violent encounters over the last week, including an incident in which a suspect who had been confronted by officers sped off, hitting two police cruisers and almost running down an officer.

According to reporting from KGW, officers in that incident were responding to reports of gun fire near an apartment complex, locating a suspect in a truck before the suspect fled. One officer fired at the suspect as the truck sped through the police cruisers, though it was unclear if the driver had been injured because he was able to elude police and escape.

In a similar incident, an officer was badly injured and hospitalized after a stolen vehicle investigation that resulted in the suspect running over the officer in the vehicle.

Hours earlier, officers were involved in a physical altercation with a domestic violence suspect. Video of the incident appears to show the suspect pulling out a gun and perhaps firing a shot, resulting in one officer opening fire on the man and killing him.

"It's beginning to get frustrating for the officers and hopefully members of the community are getting frustrated, as well," Portland Police Bureau Officer Derek Carmon told KGW.

The frustration for Portland's police officers has been building for two years, with the city being one of the epicenters of nationwide protests following the death of George Floyd in 2020. Those demonstrations often turned violent, resulting in millions of damage to property in the city and the death of a supporter of former President Donald Trump at the hands of an antifascist protester.

Portland was among the cities that pulled back money from police as a result of the "Defund the Police" movement protests there, though the continued violence forced officials to change course and seek more police funding just a year later.

Violent protests in the city have continued ever since, most recently after the Supreme Court issued its ruling overturning Roe v. Wade. After the ruling, a large group of protesters descended on downtown Portland, smashing business windows and vandalizing buildings with graffiti that read "death to SCOTUS."

Liberal policies in another liberal shithole city putting criminals right back on the street. “Roughly one in every five crooks busted for burglary or theft in New York last year got re-arrested on a felony charge within 60 days after being put back on the streets, NYPD figures obtained by The Post show.”

Recidivism rates for NYC’s burglars and thieves soar amid bail reform: NYPD data

The revolving door of justice is spinning in overdrive these days.

Roughly one in every five crooks busted for burglary or theft in New York last year got re-arrested on a felony charge within 60 days after being put back on the streets, NYPD figures obtained by The Post show.

The alarming statistics reveal increases in alleged recidivism as high as three times what they were in 2017 — before New York’s controversial bail-reform law took effect in 2020.

“We went from a revolving-door justice system to an E-ZPass system,” fumed one frustrated Manhattan cop.

The numbers also show that suspects arrested last year for misdemeanor petit larceny amid the city’s ongoing shoplifting spree went on to quickly commit more serious crimes, with 21.6% charged with felonies less than two months later.

That rate is more than 2.5 times the 8.1% recorded in 2017.

Another Manhattan cop predicted, “Nothing will change until the politicians stop worrying about the criminals.”

Instead, the focus should be on the victims of the city’s spiraling crime crisis, the cop said.

“It is traumatic for someone to walk into a house that has been burglarized or walk outside the house and see their car was stolen,” the cop said.

The Chicago Bears are reportedly set in their plans to move out of the city of Chicago amidst the rapidly growing crime crisis in the city.

While the team does not plan to leave the Chicago region or change its city of affiliation, team executives are looking to build a new stadium in the wealthier suburb of Arlington Heights, some 30 miles outside the city limits. The move was first initiated when the organization bought a plot of land in the Chicago suburb in September worth just under $200 million.
.
.
.
But throughout the 20th and 21 centuries, increased inner-city traffic, as well as an uptick in crime, have caused many teams to move out of downtown and to the outskirts of major cities or even outside the city limits altogether. The Bears are reportedly the latest of these clubs to seek a new location.

The Daily Wire ran a report detailing Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s last-ditch attempt to coax the team to stay in the city limits. Mayor Lightfoot is reportedly proposing somewhere between $900 million and $2.2 billion to either build the team a new arena in the city limits or perform a serious overhaul of Soldier Field, which, even with its early-2000s renovations, is fundamentally outdated.

The specifics of Lightfoot’s deal are still unclear, as some have speculated the new stadium would be a multipurpose facility with the Bears as its main attraction. Others have said it would belong to the Bears alone.

The report indicates that Lightfoot’s attempt will likely be to no avail, as the Bears, like many other large Chicago-based companies, are looking to get out of the city that has been the poster child for the effects of Democratic policies like anti-gun laws, soft-on-crime policies, and anti-police rhetoric.

I for one cannot understand how anybody involved in either a violent crime or crime with a gun, is granted the ability to be out on bail. It's sad. And any da, or AG that has people that allows people to perpetrate crimes after being arrested and released, after performing a violent crime, should be fired immediately, and the City forced to pay restitution to the victims
