What Airport Security?

The next time I endure the indignity at airport security, I will feel worse because of the following story about what happened at JFK last Friday.

A man who was stranded in Jamaica Bay when his jet ski ran out of fuel swam toward the nearest landmark - JFK Airport. Wearing a bright yellow life jacket, he was able to scale an 8-foot fence and walk two miles, crossing two runways, to the Delta Terminal before asking for help from an airline employee at the ramp.

The Authorities are not able to explain why the man's activities did not trigger the $100-million state-of-the-art Perimeter Intrusion Detection System made by Raytheon. However, they have wasted no time charging him with criminal trespass!

The head of the union representing the Port Authority cops calls the JFK perimeter security system "an expensive piece of junk".

How reassuring!

I suppose it still serves as a deterrent, just like:

I feel much safer now! Another hardened criminal off the streets!

Same fuckers that watch the border with Mexico? Did the turd catch his flight?

He didn't fit any racial profile so they left him alone. If he was wearing a turban they would have nailed him at the fence.

i did a lay over in laguardia (sp), and I am looking at the hired help, and I am thinking is this really secure? do i feel safe? should I ask if they have green cards?

Airport perimeter security Nice to know our taxes are being used wisely.

The legacy of the hysteria created by Dubya and his cronies.

Used to do quite a bit of work at our airport here, had a badge to go any where i wanted. But this is just plain crazy not sure how you let a guy get over the fence. From being in the security room at ours they have cameras all over the place wondering how he got that far with out being seen on camera!!!
