Three ?’s from a Frustrated Hobbyist

Had a decent little afternoon at the casino yesterday and thought ‘what the heck, might as well have a little post game fun’. I had a text thread with a provider nearby and she was my type and I was all set to meet her. Then…crickets. Wouldn’t answer text. When I called, the number was ‘no longer in service’ (does that mean I was blocked?…not sure how that can even happen that fast - texting one minute, out of service the next). So question one is - why does this happen? It wasn’t the first time either. I was polite and didn’t sense any negative vibe whatsoever. Question 2 - why do girls ask for a selfie? Do they think a police officer won’t send one? Many of us in the hobby are doing this independent of our family lives and the potential for blackmail or other mayhem from sharing our identify is real. I’m not sure how it makes a provider feel safe. Also, a guy could easily send a fake photo or a photo of someone that looks kind of like them. So I’m not sure what this accomplished. And by the way, I titled this frustrated hobbyist, but in this case I’m actually just seeking to understand. Ok if you’re still with me, question 3, actual legit providers don’t ask for a deposit on an incall right? Outcall I can see because it could be used to pay for transportation to and from the visit. But I also had things set up with a different provider only to have her say ‘I need $xxx deposit up front and the rest after our appointment’. Smells like a scam to me when anyone is asking for that on an incall. I even sent her a pic of the $ in my hand and then the communication just stopped. My guess is I saved myself some wasted $ there. Ok ladies - thanks in advance for the education on this rainy day. I still have that $ burning a hole in my pocket btw. If you’re real and fun, and available today message me.
Yes, it is a frustrating experience, all too common, that many providers fail to respond, make appointments for a set time only to ask for long delays once you arrive, or just ghost you for no reason whatsoever.
But, as to the selfie's requirement, it's not hard to see how it may protect them. A dude would be less likely to try to rob them, rough them up, not want to pay them or harm them in any way if he knows she's got his pic. If he's a bad client, she can share his pic with other providers. And, as to easily sending a fake selfie, they can just as easily decline to see you when they realize the real person doesn't match the pic.
So, yes, nobody likes sending pics. I just won't do it, but I can see why it may be helpful to them. Also, have you ever tried using paragraphs in your writing?
Ok. That makes sense on the photo front.

And in terms of paragraphs,

Honestly John the gals who are good at "the business end" which includes PROMPT communication, and are at least somewhat reasonable as far as their rates have more business then they can shake a stick at and much of it repeat business. Probably have to turn down plenty of offers. Unfortunately we've been overrun with scammers, thieves and gals who figure if they get your cash once their ahead of the game, and they'll just move on to the next sucker or the next town, and then circle back once they think the dust has settled from their shenanigans.
The deposit thing has become an all to regular thing, especially for the traveling gals, and I'm sure that the gents are at least partially to blame for this, for cancelling, no shows etc.. I know gals who have traveled here and had almost everyone of their prebooks cancel, or just not show at all.
The deal having to wait a long time and having her keeping bumping the time back, I think often comes from gals double booking in case someone doesn't show, then their covered. First one in gets the time, second guy waits an hour. I know this isn't always the case, BUT it does happen. I know some gents who double book dates for the same reason. Unfortunately this whole deal leads to what we have now, where both sides try to cover their own interest, and end up raining on somebodies parade. It would be nice if we could all go back to being ladies and gentleman and keeping commitments. There are still some out there from both sides, but it seems the water is shallower all the time.....

1.- Yes, it sounds like you were blocked. OR-- she's using a texting app for her "hobby communications" which would mean there is no actual phone number to call. She could be a flake or you could have said something that just made her uncomfortable and she ghosted. Doesn't have to even be anything significant. Some ladies just get a spidey sense about something and some are more easily spooked than others.

2. The selfie thing-- I'm not a fan of it myself, but I do understand the reasoning. Now they have your pic-- makes a person less likely to commit a physical crime against the provider-- not knowing if they've saved that picture, etc. Plus-- if you show up at the door looking nothing like the pic-- they're simply not going to open the door. I'm not a fan of this-- I'm more inclined to just decline someone who cannot be screened.

3. Ugh.. Deposits. I personally don't require them unless someone is specifically wanting me to come to a city just for them, etc. I tour heavily and I still don't require them.... but I certainly understand why some do. The cancellation and no show rate towards travelers in some cities is horrid. Deposits for incall isn't in and of itself a scam-- I've been tempted when I'm home in Cincinnati-- as I don't have a permanent spot and have to book a room each time. But-- I wouldn't do deposit if you can't find a good solid history of the provider in question.

I agree with all that Grace.

1. Some people are more high strung than others. Which can scare them about certain words guys say.

2. I have only sent photos to sugar babies. This is because most won't be around long. Most likely will delete everything they get when they stop. Where as providers see many men and can be around a long time. I don't want my photo on their phones for years.

3. Still the sending of funds to someone who uses a alias like us all, is a game stopper. You have no idea whether they are in your city or even your state. When you get taken, it makes you wiser but changes you for the worse.

Another point to make is that when taxes are lowered the economy does better, remember President Regan? More recently, President Trump lowered taxes and the economy boomed. Biden came into office and immediately raised taxes: now look at the economy with high gas prices and the price of housing going though the roof. The same one dollar bill no longer buys the same amount of goods. The value of my house in dollars has multiplied by 1.75 since Dumb Boy Biden took office. Same house, but it takes more dollars to buy it. I like my house, so I will keep it.

When business is not taxed, more workers are hired and more taxes are collected from them. No income tax by some states also makes the economy better. High taxes create problems: look at California.

With that at a given fact the implication for the hobby is get rid of all the pimps and the ladies will have more money to spend.

JR--do some research instead of relying on your opinion for your facts. I am a moderate Republican--but factually since WWII the economy has grown better under Dem Presidents. Presidents don't raise taxes Congress does--and there yet has to be an increase. California's rate of job growth has outpaced the national average in the last year. BTW trickle-down economics is a myth. I don't always like facts and truth--but it is what it is!!
Biden did not raise taxes. The tax plan automatically raised rates this year.
