Rod Blagojevich Sentenced to 14 Years in Prison on Corruption Charges

Did he deserve it?
When you kill someone you can get the death penalty,
What he did was worse, he tried to kill millions of voters.
It was his arrogance (ignorance + cocky confidence) that did him in. Chicago (he lived by Montrose&Kedzie area)/IL politics is very corrupt. Blago was an amateur IMHO.
Many have and will continue to do much worse.

Dr. Conrad Murray gets what? 4 years for Involuntary Manslaughter for killing one of, if not the, biggest pop stars in the world. What's wrong with this picture? Blago wasn't doing anything different than any other politician out there. That's why it's called politics! Hopefully he'll appeal. There are starving lawyers out there needing the work.

He surely deserved the punishment he got.

I am only surprised that the justice system took so long to do it.

A governor is supposed to be a model of good behavior, at least in conducting the duties of the high office, but he wasn't doing even close to that.

He was a model of corruption and it is about time that these arrogant sons of bitches get the message.

Sometimes, I think we should at least slap them around a bit until they at least understand their primary purpose in office.

Their purpose is to serve the country to the best of their abilities.

They think their purpose is to conduct some sort of food fight and fixing the economy is secondary if they think about it at all!

He was a corrupt Chicago politician and deserved what he got. The only thing I hate is now we will continue to have to provide for him for 14 more years at taxpayor expense.
Now Illinois has a Republican and a Democrat governor in prison. That's what they mean when they refer to balance of power. One less politician out causing damage, thousands more to go.

14years was kinda harsh IMHO.

He did what they all do. He had a powerful chip and he was trying to broker it into something better. They all do exacyly that, just a tad less blatant. Not sure he would be a very good poker player, though he will have plenty of time to hone his skills!

Just read that from the 9 last governors of Illinois, 5 landed (or ended) in prison. The governor before RB is still sitting a 6.5 year sentence.

. . . That is interesting and makes one wonder what the cause might be for this corruption and why don't these idiot governors learn their lesson?
