Austin advice

Are there any areas of town that I should avoid? I’m not very familiar with the area and I appreciate any information

Hi Nadia,
Referring to entertainment/night life/ party areas:
6th st can be unsafe with all the homeless/drug users roaming about.
East side isn't too bad if you stay close to the bars and don't wander off.

In general:
Rundberg is a notorious shady spot.
South East austin can get a bit crazy.

The Domain is a safe area.

Rainey Street is a lot of fun too. It’s a short stretch of a few blocks with bar after bar. Most of them were residences converted into drinking establishments.
Stay away from the river that borders it. Not a safe area
