James Carville GOES OFF On DC-Based Democrats For Pushing ‘Identity Sh*t’: ‘Get Your Ass Out Of Washington!’FWIW: They do have wine and cheese parties on those cruises...
David GilmourNov 12th, 2024
Democratic strategist James Carville unleashed on Democrats after Vice President Kamala Harris’s election defeat to President-elect Donald Trump and slammed Washington-based Democrats for what he claimed was a misguided embrace of identity politics.
Carville addressed Politicon with a 20-minute call for a strategic reassessment of the party’s approach during which he reflected on missed opportunities in the past election.
Throughout, however, in signature style, Carville opened up on his party colleagues as the consequences of the election weighed in. At one point he blasted: “We have no legislative power, we have no executive power, we have no judicial power. So when you’re out of power, you’re an opposition party.”
Carville’s frustration spilled over again as he slammed what he sees as the out-of-touch priorities of Democrats in the Beltway bubble.
He said: “What you’ve done ain’t worth a shit. Get your head around that. And all of the Washington-based Democrats farting around, going to wine and cheese parties, and talking about how misogynistic the race is—get your ass out of Washington, and go work on a 2026 campaign and do penance to make up for your goddamn arrogance and stupidity.”
He continued: “We’re going to say we told you so. We told you this identity shit was disaster. We told you to get out in front of public safety issues. You didn’t.”
Summing up his frustration with the party’s recent direction, Carville called the Democrats’ embrace of “Defund the Police” and similar ideas part of a “stupid God damn identitarian mission.”
“The entire era of Jackassery,” he declared.
Rounding off, Carville urged Democrats to rebuild the party’s infrastructure and to resist attacking different voter demographics.
“Go and tell all the people that are sending you and asking you for money, justify what you did,” he said. “Justify what you did wrong, and tell us what you’re going to do different.”
