This woman is a total foodie, and KC has an amazing food scene! I'm going to share a few of my favorites with you, and hope you'll do the same with me please! I love to try out new venues!
Okay, the best lobster bisque in the city can be found at Chez Elle in the Crossroads. It's a delightful French bistro that also has the most amazing crepes, both savory and sweet, and coffee to die for.
For the best 4-course dinner at the best price, check out Broadmoor Bistro in Shawnee Mission. It's the restaurant run by the Shawnee Mission HS culinary students. Open only on Wednesday nights during the school year, they put out an incredible dinner that's top-notch, complete with a tour of the kitchen, for $30/pp. The students do a wonderful job of preparing the meal, and running the front of the house.
For happy hour, I love to go to Hotel Sorella. It's not only a stunningly beautiful hotel, the customer service is on point, and the drinks and apps are superb. The lounge has a seriously modern vibe, but is not snobby at all. You can also look out the floor to ceiling windows at the amazing views.
Finally, for diehard foodies, a trip to Pryde's Old Westport will be like nirvana because of all the kitchen offerings (not to mention the best candles in the city--Pickwick's and 5B & Co. Candlemakers), and they have the sweetest little bake shop in the back, only open Thursday-Saturday. Ashley makes pies and cookies that cannot be found anywhere in town, and if you get there around closing on Saturday night (6 p.m.), you can get the pastries 50% off!
So, there's a few of my best-kept foodie secrets. What's yours?
