Police on Thursday arrested two people accused of prostitution at a College Station hotel.
Officers responded to Homewood Suites on University Drive around 12:41 a.m. after receiving a call from a hotel clerk who said a woman had arrived in a sheer top and "booty shorts," while temperatures were near 30 degrees outside, and was unable to provide the name of the guest she was visiting, according to the police report.
When police contacted the 44-year-old man from Ithaca, N.Y., in the hotel room, he told them he was spending time with a friend he could not identify, police said. The man eventually admitted his plan to pay the woman $100 for her time, the report stated.
The officers found the 26-year-old Hempstead woman nude around the corner from the room, according to the report. She told officers she had met the man on a dating site but denied any promise of compensation, police said in the report.
Both were charged with prostitution, a Class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail. The woman was also charged with Class A misdemeanor failure to identify after police said she provided the wrong spelling of her name as well as false date of birth.
The man was released from jail Thursday morning after posting $3,000 bail. The woman remained in the Brazos County Jail on Thursday night in lieu of $8,000 bail.
