Facebook and The Hobby

Hello! I just had a thought...kind of want to make a facebook page so that guys from all around could get to know me, and I them, since I like to travel. Do any of you ladies do this, or would you guys be interested??

I never mix facebook or any other with the hobby as on facebook it's me and not my online personna. I do get friend request from gals I don't know and they are usually young and pretty. I assume it's a business come on and kinda thinks it's intrusive. I would say stick to the channels that protect both sides. It's just a little safer as far as identity goes. Just an opinion.

I'd say if you keep a separate account and avoid face shots why not? I'd like it!

I think this is quite commonly done on Myspace... wasn't there a girl in the news for this?

I did it for a week and got a lot of rude comments on my wall about being a harlot and a whore... blah blah blah.. maybe I didnt have the privacy settings right but I deleted that
account right away.

Fiona, I think it is safer to stick to national sites like this one devoted to the hobby. You need to travel down to Houston.

Things change on Facebook, and I have a lot of family that is easy to keep in touch with using Facebook. So I wouldn't want to take a chance on having the wrong Facebook account logged in. Facebook is great for a lot of things, this hobby and Facebook should be totally separate IMO.

I wouldn't criss cross this with FB for nothing.. A lot of girls do blogs you might try that.

Would never become FB friends with a provider using my real name. Don't that personal stuff out there for her to see or me to know. Just not a good idea!!

I have a "Valerie" FB, I don't use it to advertise though, never has been an issue for me...

I have a hobby facebook account that does not cross over to my real life. I only friend other people that I know personally in the hobby. They are never on my personal FB account, in fact I'm about to delete my personal account because I don't use it.

Way too many kids on FB to even hint about the hobby there. Might as well have a neon sign and arrows pointing to you. Not the kind of attention you probably want.
