the Queen of Soul dies on the same date as the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. I was fortunate to see Aretha twice, I remember her version of "Bridge over troubled water" leaving Simon and Garfunkel in the dust. her song "until you come back to me" is one of my top 10 goose-bump tunes of all time.

Bummer she was greatness.

Sad day for sure.

Any serious music lover should own her 1967 masterpiece, “I Never Loved A Man The Way I Loved You”. Extraordinary album from an extraordinary singer.

this compilation is one of the best-sequenced masterpieces ever released.. somehow it never made it to compact disc!
