I would be interested in knowing if this actually affects the activity there. O was planning to visit next week on the way through, maybe there is a better place to visit in the early afternoon?

That sign is BS...That's not Montera...Having said that, Montera hasn't been very impressive lately. The zone is still good and American-friendly at both Martha's and Safari. The club up from Safari is good til 5am Wednesday through Saturday, but it's more for locals. (Only go to that club if you speak good Spanish. Gangsters sometimes hang out at this club, but they like it when an American speaks Spanish. They feel honor and respect from this and might even approach you to chat. Don't be afraid.)
