More history on the old Blue Book

My family's an old one in San Antonio, and know that this was the hobbying capitol west of the Mississippi for ages. In the past there were so many houses of pleasure that they had their own directory, and it's said to have been pages and pages long.

It was called the Blue Book, and I wish someone here could tell me more about it. I've heard it was huge, and reflected the scores of pleasure houses here abouts.

It has been awhile, but the Barn Door had the "Blue Book," under glass, mounted to the wall, just outside the men's room. It was about 28 pages of the names of the various houses of entertainment. All located up and down East Houston and Cherry Street area. Legend had it, that the taxi cab drivers would use it as a reference for all the men going into the Army and thru Ft. Sam Houston.

Next time your in the Barn Door, you may look for it.
