Forumula for a Great Board

Here's a good recipe:

1. . see that 95% of the posts are from the same 5 people who belong to a little clique that agrees on everything and piles on if anyone disagrees with anything one of them posts. have them sit online ALL day making bad inside jokes and agreeing with each other.

2.. sausage, sausage, and even more saugage! as few providers as possible. there are a few great ways to do this. for instance, allow anyone and everyone to disrespect and harass them at will. another good strategy to keep those pesky providers away is to enforce stale old rules, like no posting in the review forum.

3. geographically and socially remote mods who don't know anything about the city or the scene. make sure they're offline for large portions of the day. and see that they enable the clique to maintain sausage levels.
I don't know what happened to you and don't have the extra minutes in my day to go and read old threads with regards to your fights with some of them members here, and frankly NONE of my business... but..

There is a time when all should be able to participate without prejudice.

Name calling and childish behavior should not be allowed out of our mouths and we as grown ass'ed adults should be able to police ourselves as grown ass'ed adults.

Unfortunately, there are those who like to harass for the sake of harassing others.

It is my 5th amendment right to say what I feel and same for others, I am proud to be able to do that, but with that right comes great responsibility to remain civil to my fellow man.

The five you speak of are still on Indy's as well and go back and forth between sites to joke around as well..They can talk smack there or here and who cares,..Most know they do that to everyone so you don't seem so singled out in the long run.

I personally ignore what I want and comment on what I do want to comment on..

There is NOTHING anyone can say to me that will effect who I am as a person, I can choose to walk away and do just fine without them, I do not need a Fuck board to make or break my business,

Therefore, If you or ANYONE doesn't like something, just don't comment on it, ignore them, don't post on THEIR THREADS and move along.

There is enough smart people who will see who you are and stick by you to eventually override the bad.
The basic problem is they all subscribe to the indys ideology that tells them that they should NEVER submit to screening. So they have never respected my right to screen. This goes back years. And when denied client status and the chance to see some of the best talent in town they react bitterly...usually by harassing me online and trying to scare away other clients by speading lies and exaggerating the dangers of screening.
I too have been attacked for my screening hard.. BUT..

That's ok, I will not compromise my safety for anyone. there are plenty of people who later recant and see me despite of telling me to go "F" myself Build it and they will cum!!

I move on to the next.. Most know I am safe and cave.. wink!

Are you a member or advertise on the bigger sites in the area?

I apologize for not knowing your agency name.
Not really a big fan of boards. In my experience, the people that post the most usually know the least. My most serious clients don't post at all. Ever. They hobby instead of typing. And of course these boards attract trolls whose hobby is overposting and hating. So there's drama.

But some board presence makes it easier to screen newbies, as they can see we're established etc. And every once in a while there is useful info in an alert or something.

In light of how this board is trending lately I am exploring some other options.

There are many options out there for advertising, although I am not sure who the difference between independent and agency works..

I feel it is good to have your name all over and catch whomever might now see you in one place will see you in another..

Keep posting here.. don't let people dictate where and when you should post.. Don't let the "TROLLS" get to you.

Your personality (described by someone else on this board as “prickly”) doesn't inspire confidence that you can be trusted with personal information. You fly off the handle at the tiniest perceived slight and don't hesitate to retaliate against hobbyists who cross you. You recall things that happened years ago, trash former clients online and even make fun of people who only contacted you for information. Your own behavior scares away more clients than anything other people do.

The truth is this is not a place where you have the right of free speech. There are consequences to violating the guidelines.

My suggestion would be that if a person did not like the boards they would stay away form them and not participate. I do however understand that this board allows for limited free advertizement and it is a privilege and not a right. Causing additional work for the mods could result in the removal of those privileges.

People can choose to abide by a person screening method or not. This does not mean that they cannot talk about how a person screens. It is all about choice. Now how a person complains is another matter if it is rude and disrespectful it will not be tolerated.

Damn this shit is getting to be like a bunch of homosexuals having a bitch fight.

Indys may have gone to that. But when I was activity on indys it was actually a pretty good site. SHMBs are what they are ... the modtards do not do most of the moderating. The moderating comes from the participants.

2.. sausage, sausage, and even more saugage! as few providers as possible. there are a few great ways to do this. for instance, allow anyone and everyone to disrespect and harass them at will. another good strategy to keep those pesky providers away is to enforce stale old rules, like no posting in the review forum. I enjoy providers posting, even if they do not post taint. I allows one to see their personality. However, some providers just bring the pain on themselves. They tend to suffer from self inflicted foot in mouth disease. For those providers ... well they brought it on themselves.

3. geographically and socially remote mods who don't know anything about the city or the scene. make sure they're offline for large portions of the day. and see that they enable the clique to maintain sausage levels. Catherding can be successful remotely. The best moderating is done by the dead modtard squad. But since management does not wish to enlist the dead you are stuck with the live modetards. Actually, in this forum, a remote modtard with no preconceived biases, or agendas, can worl well. Everyone starts off with a clean slate and over time the miscreants will appear and be dealt with.
