TOR: Being extra safe

Hey Guys & gals,
Just thought I would share this if everyone, if you want to keep as much of your business private & avoid being tracked in what you do as in sites you visit on the net. I just started using The Tor Browser. It keeps you private and doesn't track you on the internet.
It's easy to use. If you don't want to go that private then try a VPN.
Also I suggest using protonmail if you don't already.
Here is a link to TOR. At least read about it. Keep your stuff private.
One of the good things about TOR, is you don't have to install it on your computer. You can download it to a USB thumb drive and run it from there.

Thanks for the information. Anything other than Google I'm down with it. DuckDuckGo is another one I'm trying.

For those that might not know, TOR will help hide your computer's IP address (i.e. your location) but it does not encrypt your internet traffic. For that, you will need to use something like a VPN service.
This is a good article on TOR/computer setup https://lifehacker.com/how-can-i-sta...tor-1498876762
Here is an interesting video discussing how several TOR users have been caught by doing silly things online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlxmUfnpr8w

Kiki, I don't think that Opera hides your internet address. If it does, I'm not sure if I trust it. TOR is suppose to be top notch. However, like BNR said, it doesn't encypt anything. It also doesn't store your history etc. Once you close it, everything is erased from memory, So when you open the browser again, it connects to different servers so you remain hidden. Supposedly the military uses it. The only true way to be completely hidden is through a VPN (virtual private network) or jsut don't go online. Oh, and from what I have heard, even if use erase or delete everything from your cell phone, it still retains a copy of everything and can be retrieved. Smashing it is about the only 100% guarantee. If you put anything on the internet, it is always there even if you think you deleted it.
Awesome! Thanks for the info!

TOR is the onion router. Originally created by the U.S. Navy. To cover their tracks and send encrypted messages. Don't think opera is the same.
