Pro-Israeli backlash: The Cancel Culture Boomerang
Cancelling isn't new. It's been happening since the golden era of religion in Europe and likely well before that. Imagine when someone finds out your in the "other" group. Other means not the same as- and the next thing you know- you're out. Ho's with the straight lace crew, Arabs and Israeli's, or Dems or Reps, and lets not even bring in skin color.
Once you fully commit to alignment with any sect, you're literally throwing yourselves to the wolf pack of cancel culture. What doesn't surprise me is that this continues to today- people being more tribal now than ever. The days of inclusion an accepting each other has reached new lows- and it's present in all things in the world.
What does surprise me is that conservatives act like it's something new.
Heres the headline: It's not new News. It's old News.
How can it be such a topic these days since it's literally been happening forever. Arabs and Jews have been just one of those groups who have been getting more media with the recent war in Gaza, but literally has been going on for decades / Eons or longer.
In a private discussion off this board, someone asserted that "cancelling" goes back to the Garden of Edan with Adam and Eve!
It is my perception, in the past few years the effect of the so-called cancel culture has mostly come from the left against conservatives. One of a few exceptions was the liberal's cancellation of Sen. Al Franken (D. Min). A consiiracy theory is that Epstein was literally "cancelled" by unknown interests.
What has caught my attention since early October of this year, is the apparent cancellation efforts focused on progressive-liberal anti-Israeli advocates, mostly by corporate employers in industry, law and entertainment.
I am now wondering if the big alumni organizations start shaking up academia. That is not a sure thing.
You know, I don’t care for cancel culture. It’s stupid and vindictive and bullying in my opinion.
Then again, it’s also not OK to be an asshole.
