This is a great reply from NBA legend Charles Barkley during his CNBC interview, when he was asked his opinion Regarding the Zimmerman verdict. Barkley's interview really hit the nail on the head. I first heard his interview this afternoon on 610 Sports Talk.

Kudos to Sir Charles.
Ain't that the truth! Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Touree just love this shit! Fan the flames while lining their pockets ... Racism exploitation is a whole mini-media industry unto itself.

The real travesty would have been to not only have a boy killed for no good reason, but to have a man also convicted with insufficient evidence.

Sad thing is that the Stand Your Ground law could have given Zimmerman a legal rationale. If you're going to instigate a fight you should have no right to shoot someone for kicking your ass when you started it.

I did not have much of an opinion of Barkley before this, but this is the first intelligent thing I have seen come out of a celebritys mouth regarding the Zimmerman case. This guy shows more intelligence and sensitivity than the President did.
It really is a situation where two people acted stupidly, unfortunately one was going to lose their life and it happened to be Travyon. It is a tragedy but has nothing to do with racism. I know that racism is real and profiling probably does happen often, but there is no evidence to suggest it did in this case. Even the prosecutors who are grasping at straws to attack Zimmerman did not charge him with profiling.

It is a shame that unlike Barkley a large section of the media and politicians are using this episode as an opportunity to whip up hysteria and hatred for political advantage. They are making noises about racism and profiling though there is not a shred of evidence to support the claim that it played a role here. And they are making noise about Stand Your Ground though that was not the defense used by Zimmerman.

It is possible to bring some good out of this incident but first the hate-mongering needs to be replaced by thoughtfulness. If something like this has to not happen again we need:
1. Better training of neighborhood watch volunteers to simply report and not even allow for the opportunity to engage with a suspicious person.
2. Better education for the public to understand that if you are walking in an unfamiliar suburban area and encounter someone seemingly suspicious then disengage and try to get away from the situation and to safety as fast as you can.

Either of those two are the only things that would have prevented this tragedy. Mindlessly railing about Stand Your Ground or profiling will make no difference.
I didn't look at the interview.
Will only say you gotta be a dumbass if you say it is ok to start a fight, get your ass kicked then claim self defense to shoot a person.

He claims to have become fearful for his life, pulled a gun that he legally owned and was legally carrying and defended himself.

Tragically TM lost his life to just one shot. A crazed vigalanty with the intent to kill would have pulled the trigger more than once. Anybody with tactical experience would have at least double tapped.

This is a stupid tragedy, not a racist incident worth thousands marching in the streets over.
The Q X rally in River Oaks was a non-event, just people marching on the sidewalk ... About 200 people. Counter was about 75 skinheads and NRA supporters and a few Jesus freaks.

Here's the problem with Stand Your Ground. Zimmerman was safe inside his car, plus he was packing heat. He got out and followed TM. Then when he realized he was getting an Ass Whipping claimed her feared for his life and shot. When did he legitimately cease to become the aggressor and could claim self defense. By the same token, was TM not defending himself from someone who was pursuing him?

Too bad there is no law against being a stupid dumbfuck ... Zimmerman would get a life sentence.

If you're going to start a fight, man-up and take your WhipAss if that's what you got yourself into. TM never had idea he was getting into a fight with a gun, but Zimmerman knew that for certain.
Do you know who uses Stand Your Ground as a defense more than anyone else, and by a long shot?

Gang members.

Stand Your Ground is not good legislation.
