Looks like they came up short of actually disbanding the vice unit like the original recommendation from several state senators. The NYPD vice unit was a major driver of overtime income for many officers throughout the department.

It will be an interesting case to see if it spreads to the entire state. I personally think sex work should be legal but actual forced labor (sex or otherwise) is reprehensible. At least those freely choosing to engage in sex work won’t be harmed, or harmed less, by the NY City judicial system.

You're right. This specific district attorney should have done his job.

Too busy chasing frivolous charges and lawsuits. Sounds right for ny.

From what Ive gathered about this situation. Lack of funding to health inspectors, LE, courts and prosecutors have led to this. Very disturbing trend.
“Over the last decade we’ve learned from those with lived experience, and from our own experience on the ground: criminally prosecuting prostitution does not make us safer, and too often, achieves the opposite result by further marginalizing vulnerable New Yorkers,” said District Attorney Vance.
What Ive been telling you.

Sex work is real work, stop abusing the providers and clients with police action....it only makes it worse for everyone.
