I use burner app. ~$50/year for your own number, keeps things separate without keeping an extra phone. Not entirely untraceable since it's not cash, but unless you're worried about an FBI targeted raid you're probably safe. There's also TextNow and some others out there, or Google Voice if you're not already using one.

Tracfone for about $10-20 works well for this. Always buy the refill cards with cash.
