Found out just how delicate a laptop screen is.

Took hold of the edge of my laptop screen to move it and crack.

I knew they were delicate but dang! Emily Dickinson could have
written a poem about just how much.

Don't try it yourself to see if it's true, just take my word for it.

The old one will make a nice target for my AR10 Rifle when I take
it off. If you're gonna do something do it right.

Should have read the instructions where it says, never take hold of,
use a hammer or pliers to adjust, submerge in ice cold water, run
over with a peterbilt, drag behind a 69 shovelhead, or otherwise
molest the screen of your laptop.

At least the screen won't permanently stain from unknown fluids.

I closed my company laptop in my hotel room when I got up to go to dinner. When it closed you could hear the crackling of the screen. The entire screen shattered. I did not slam it or abuse it.
Where do y'all go to fix your screens? I saw a company on eBay, but I would have to mail it in. Surely a big city like Dallas has a walk-in mender vendor?

If you're just wanting to spend the cash on a repair, I suggest buying the screen yourself if you're 100% sure you are getting the right one, then just take it to a repair shop and pay them for the hour or so it would take to replace the screen for you.

Mine is a TOSHIBA and it cost $130 for a new screen, they are not that difficult
to replace yourself, you just have to take the bottom off.

I think BEST BUY will install a new screen.

Hell. some screens costs more than a new computer. Bojulay, I feel your pain.
Ah, Best Buy! Thank you.
I googled "Computer repair dallas" and just got the run-around. A bunch of nonsense with no actual addresses.

They are really easy to repair, I have fixed a few of them before, about a 30min job.

Installed a new screen and it was fairly easy, I used this video for help.

If you do one yourself be very careful with the video plug, it
is very small and delicate. Be sure to remove the power cord
and battery as well.
I replaced one on my HP as well after a Wii related incident. got a good deal on the replacement at www.screencountry.com

it was pretty straight forward to replace

The company advertises on EBay, the screen ships out of Houston, ordered it one day and received it the next, under $100.00 delivered, website has reference numbers you compare your screen number to printed on the back of the screen to see who Mfg'ed the screen in your machine, website video shows a AA lady sitting at the dining room table disassembling her laptop and removing the screen, I think it was10-12 tiny Phillips head screws and carefully unplug the copper harness and wala! Pretty straight forward, dummy proof. Dell wanted $220. - $230.00 + tax & ship for the 17" screen mine required, this was a deal.
Don't close power cords or usb cords between the screen & keyboard by accident, mine screen looked like a spiderweb.
On a related note, case construction (and flex) may be an important consideration in purchasing your next laptop! But that sucks, I'm sorry.

Toshiba seems like kind of crap.

I bought a Gateway for a second backup computer and I like
it a lot better, it was cheaper also.

The first thing I do when I get a new computer is dump norton
and bing and download mcafee, google chrome, and google ad blocker.
