WWII Vets Memorial

I am NOT a right winger and I don't care how anyone feels about this government shutdown.

I think we can all agree - that the way our WWII vets are being treated and excluded from THEIR MEMORIAL is bullshit. I expected that, by now, the problem would have been corrected but it appears the government is "stuck on stupid" and determined to find a way to keep these guys out.

The government didn't build that memorial - it was paid for through private donations. I've been there - didn't see a single Park Ranger ... I even went in at night to look at it lit up - no one was there supervising us "tourists" as we did it.

If they insisted - they could simply make the memorial off-limits to everyone except WWII vets - who are dying every day at a rate of 600 or more! For many - this is their last chance to see their memorial.

Well I've contacted the Honor Flight guys - and asked them if they need any help getting these vets across the barricades. If they'll have me - I'm going to DC ... so tired of this bullshit man.

Not a right winger and not a left winger for sure...I think it's an absolute disgrace to treat veterans this way...why punish them when they are the ones who spilled their blood for this country,IMO they need to be treated with the UTMOST respect, and EVERY exception should be made for them! I wont get started on politics, because this whole ridiculous situation in DC makes my blood boil...instead of trying to reach a common point they're acting like spoiled children...

Bet there are plenty of people that will volunteer to run the memorial and many other sights.

This communist head of state we have needs to be impeached, quit drinking the koolaide. If you see koolaide kick the container over!

I'm headed up there on Saturday for the event on Sunday.

$55 round trip with my frequent flyer miles and coming back is business class - not too shabby.

They asked me to bring three bags to pick up trash and clean the memorials. Expected there will be NO place to go to the bathroom. Gonna be a challenge.
There weren't any bathrooms in the battlefields. I hear the Whitehouse lawn needs watering!

I went up for Sunday's march.

We tore down the barricades at the WWII Memorial. Then we tore them down at the Vietnam Veterans memorial. Then tore them down at the Lincoln memorial and occupied that for awhile.

Then most of the crowd picked up the barricades and went to the White House and dumped them on the gates there. I didn't go to the White House - went back to the WWII memorial were still about 500 people were.

An honor flight came through - old Vets in wheelchairs - they were ECSTATIC that we had torn down the barricades. One of the vets was a WWII nurse - she was 96. She served in field hospitals all over Europe during the war. Her brother died at the Battle of the Bulge.

We gave her one of the "CLOSED" signs and she was waiving it around with a BIG smile!

I got to "finger" Sarah Palin too! Er ... well okay maybe not really! :P

Todd looked willing though!
