Why don't we spend some of that Biden infrastructure money to build up our own island bases in the South China Sea? We could do this as subcontractors to Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines - whose offshore coastal rights China is encroaching on.

I must admit I've been impressed by China's ability to create island fortresses out of coral reef. Let's show them we can do the same. If they really want to start a war over their phony claims to waters that are way beyond their territory, so be it. We'll help the countries with legit claims defend themselves. I'm not worried about the Chinese Navy. We have 11 carriers, they have 2. With our carriers and the right missiles, we could knock out half of their ships in a week.
