The only people still pissed off about the energy thing are dems looking for something to blame them over, but they're already mad about the Constitutional Carry, Drive-Thru liquor, and no CRT thing.

It’s therefore no surprise that Texas Republicans are doing their very best to scuttle universal suffrage by proposing restrictions on absentee voting, enhancing the power of poll watchers, "poll intimidators" and banning drive-through and 24-hour voting. They also want to lower the legal requirements necessary to overturn election results.
In addition the bill (SB7) would prohibit election officials from sending absentee ballots to all voters, regardless of whether they had requested them; ban using tents, garages, mobile units or any temporary structure as a polling location; further limit who could vote absentee; and add new identification requirements for voting by mail. etc. etc.

If you have to work days, or if you have trouble taking time off, or finding child care, or you have trouble finding transportation because you are too poor to own a car, then republicans don't think you should be able to vote, unless you can expend the effort to pass through all of the hurdles they put in your path. If you want to vote after church on Sunday (souls to the polls) they don't want you to do that either.
Why are Republican's so afraid of the electorate? Maybe they realize that their white grievance politics will only work with old white people and they will eventually give way to a more liberal multi-cultural electorate.

1.) The bill states that voting places need to be open a MINIMUM of 9 hours a day in a 15 hours window from 6am to 9pm.
2.) In rural districts where there are less than 1000 people, the minimum requirement is 4 hours. Rural folks vote Republican. Why would Republicans write a bill to hurt their voter base?
