Female sexuality has value, while male sexuality has little to no value.
This was a topic, I recently explored, in a conversation with Bren. She is organizing a small group interested in improving their conversational skills. The topic, for much of our conversation, came from an article that reviewed research supporting the view that in almost all cultures female sexuality has value and male sexuality has little to no value. Using an economic or social exchange model, women have something of sexual value. In return, men must acquire and provide resources in order to have access to female sexuality.
Bren also provided an interesting structure for exploring and improving conversational skills. We reviewed aspects of good conversation, in the abstract, and also explored concrete examples. An enjoyable overlap developed between conversational skills and how they helped us explore notions of male and female sexual value.
