George McGovern

We mark the passing of George McGovern at 90.

This is not meant to be a partisan post. Not too many politicians have real beliefs. Most are opportunists. Some are even shameless flip-floppers.

McGovern was always true to his convictions and did not pander to the electorate. So was Barry Goldwater.

A Footnote: McGovern won only one state (Massachusetts) in the 1972 presidential election. Watergate was totally unnecessary.

He was an honest,sincere politician willing to work collaboratively with members of the other party. Part of a dying breed.....
