Well I came back to NOLA to celebrate my birthday and of course its raining CATS and DOGS! I hope the weather slows down. But any suggestions on any good Friday night spots near the Convention Center / River Walk area?

XOXO

Happy Birthday!!
I don't go out much, so I'm not sure where to tell you to go, but I do want to wish you a happy birthday despite the rain.

Happy birthday!

You can try Barcadia, which is a giant arcade bar or Fulton Alley, the new bowling alley. Both are closer to Poydras St.

There's also Lucy's Bar for laid back hanging out and Mexican food, and the Metropolitan for clubbing. Also The Republic and Howlin' Wolf for music depending on who may be playing.

The good news: yes there are many places to go in NOLA when it does this that are fun. I never would've though of Barcadia--it's close to where I work so I think of it as a 'grab a burger @ lunch & play a video game' place; never would've thought of it as a place to go in the evening.

Walk w/an umbrella if it's kinda raining, take a taxi if it's REALLY raining, the several blocks to Cochon @ Tchoupitoulas & Andrew Higgins. Not a night-spot just a restaurant but wonderful food & relatively close to you. Grand Isle & Mannings (& yes, I suppose, Fulton Alley) are close but all are ridiculously overpriced. If you're in the mood for sushi (cue the dirty jokes now please...) Geisha @ Tchoupitoulas & Common is quite good either lunch or dinner. And there's always Drago's (although I prefer Deanie's...).
