Best places to travel to in Mississippi? I came to Jackson and Biloxi years ago, but it was right after the oil spill so the beach wasn't so pretty. Hopefully it's changed a lot since I've been.

Just curious, what was your experience with the beaches in Biloxi after the oil spill ? I was on the Coast before, during and after and I do not remember any major issues, I do remember a few tar balls that washed up but it was not bad in the areas that I saw. If your experience was something different, what part of the beach was it the worst? It should be totally cleared up in all areas now though.

To be honest the beaches in MS are terrible and were terrible prior to the Katrina. There are a string of barrier islands, along with two rivers that cause the water to be brown.

I personally think coming to Hattisburg would be a central location for there’s no providers come there too often
The beaches and scenic drive along the Mississippi Gulf Coast are beautiful to behold. Actually going in the water is not that great because it is shallow and Brown. If you go out to the barrier islands then you will get beautiful surf and water. There are excellent oysters, shrimp and other seafood available all along the coast. A lot of women like to shop in downtown Ocean Springs. There are good restaurants in Ocean Springs, and the Half Sshell in Biloxi comes to mind. Also, the Filling Station there is good.

Jackson has two of the finest new museums in the country. The civil rights museum and the Mississippi history Museum. The Mayflower, Char, all good seafood and steak restaurants. Aladdin‘s is a good Mediterranean restaurant.
And Vicksburg is a short drive from Jackson, historic with a few casinos. Rusty’s and 10south are good restaurants there.

Yes Vicksburg has lots to do, and some of the best food.

I was in ship island recently, very clear waters ! You can actually see all kinds sea life in the water a historic fort is there to explore too.
I would be interested in seeing you in Jackson if you want to make a quick pit stop on your way down south.
