What is the risk of getting in trouble if you text a provider and it turns out they're in jail and the authorities have their phone?

Depends on the content of the text. Overall very little risk. A case made only on a text is almost no case at all. 99% of cases are made by you showing up, cash in hand, a sting. Real world arrest. Digital cases are almost nonexistent.
