Another slow day at work, waiting for the axe to fall.
I'm going to show my age here, but back in the mid-80s there was a very popular police soap opera on NBC called "Hill Street Blues." In one episode, the buddies of one of the officers (Renko, played by Charles Haid) got together and bought him a date with an escort for his birthday. Unbeknownst to him, they arranged for her to be in the same bar that they took him to after work, and for her to pick him up.
To say that it made his day would be an understatement -- until he found out, at which point he got severely pissed. It had something to do with his buddies insulting him by suggesting, through the arrangement they'd made, that he couldn't achieve similar results without the influence of either his friends or money. Me, I'd've bought those guys as many rounds as they could stomach without passing out or throwing up. Shrug.
Every now and then, in TV shows or movies, you'll see an escort engaged to help a businessman seal a deal with a client, or to set someone up, usually with photo is being involved.
Now, I know all that is fiction, and I know it's not necessarily reflective of the real world. But just because it happens in movies and on TV doesn't mean it doesn't happen in real life. So I thought I'd see if anyone knows of any instances similar to these, or other ones where an escort was compensated for her time by a third party.
