I just see it more from a business perspective. I wouldn't consider it a matter of self esteem. I know I'm good, great in fact- not to brag
but I also realize there is a lot of other competition out there, so like any business owner I keep my rates competitive and give my best service every time, but I don't promise something I can't or won't do. I don't like to itemize either- just keep it simple. If a provider wants to charge $500 an hour that's her perogative. I'm sure someone out there would pay that much to see me too, but I personally don't think it's fair to ask for that, and I wouldn't be successful if I did. I enjoy this for the most part. I have only once met someone that I was absolutely appalled by and thought "Oh my God, did I really just do that for money?" It wouldn't have mattered if I had charged $100 an hour or $500, at that point, my self-worth was compromised, and I will never, EVER put myself in that situation again for any amount of money. That's also why I screen and double screen. It might be annoying, but if I feel like I can't go through with it for whatever reason I just won't. It wouldn't be fair to me or the client. Some guys have told me that I am "cheap" and should be careful because I will get taken advantage of. Others think I'm too expensive and try to negotiate, and of course at that point I put them on my DNS list. This is another reason I have decided not to itemize( with the exception of one activity for an extra fee). I don't think any provider should be questioned why she charges what she charges or be negotiated with. If you don't like it, then move on.
