Need help from a Computer Tech pleazzzzze

So I change my administrator pw for my computer like once a month. I cant for the life of me remember what I changed it to. Can somebody pls help. How can I gain access again. Im using a Dell and Windows 7 if that means anything. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.....

From countless hours observing people type their passwords I have determined that the password, 100% of the time is *********. Hope that helps.


Actually, what you need to do is grab Offline NT Password Registry Editor

That will give you a CD image that you burn. Boot from cd and remove the Win 7 password completely.
Works like a champ and is pretty easy

I wondered if it still worked for Windows 7. Havent gotten to play with it much....Far easier just to post a smart-ass reply!

I think I know the answer, and it ain't pretty.

Option 1.

You probably bought your computer with W7 preinstalled, and you don't have a W7 disk, right? See if you can buy a copy. Often the computer manufacturer will send you a disc for like $20.

Buy a new hard drive (you probably wanted a higher capacity drive anyway). Buy a new copy of Windows7 (unless you have already the W7 disk that came with your computer). Install the new drive and connect it to the SATA slot on the motherboard that your now inaccessible drive occupies. Keep your old drive disconnected. Reboot, and install W7 on the new drive. Reinstall all your applications on your new drive. Let's call the new boot drive C.

As for your old drive, install it in your computer. Connect it to one of the other SATA ports on your motherboard. W7 will probably automatically name it drive D. You will no longer need a password to access drive D because it's no longer a boot drive. You'll be able to copy all your data to your new drive. You can delete W7 from your old drive to free up space.

Most people don't know this, but the OEM version (original equipment manufacturer) of W7 is often half the price of the retail version. The catch is that the OEM version is tied to the motherboard of your computer. Buy a new computer or upgrade the motherboard, and the OEM disk just goes in the garbage.

Sounds like fun, doesn't it?

Option 2.

If you thought Option 1 sucked, wait to you hear this one. Take your computer to a professional computer forensic examiner. If you saved your password to your hard drive, he'll retrieve it in just a few minutes. If your password is a name or a word that appears in a dictionary, this will also take just a few minutes to crack. The problem with this option is that it is much more expensive that Option 1, even with a soft password.

If you used a hard password, buying a brand new top of the line laptop is much cheaper than Option 2. Just connect your old drive to your new computer and read all your data.
It costs thousands of dollars to crack hard passwords.

As an aside, the new W7 USB encryption security key method is uncrackable. No USB key, no access to the computer. That simple.

Before doing anything, however, post your query in the W7 forums. They helped me out several times with some really tough computer proble

There are password retrieval programs out there.. some can be set up on a boot CD so that it can display your password then you can get in.

But they require a high level of pc knowledge and linux/unix skills.

if you feel confident enough or brave, look into window 7 password crackers for boot CD's

if not, take it to a shop and let them do the same...

This isnt completely true. If you do upgrade your motherboard or more than 3 or 4 components and it fails activation you can call Microsoft and they will manually activate it no questions asked.

Since it is a Dell with Windows 7 then it is obviously quite new. I would suggest that you call their Tech Support. Perhaps they can help you. Be sure to have your Tag Number handy so they can identify your computer.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that. I've upgraded the CPU and the hard drives and had no problems. However, I thought that a new motherboard required a new copy of W7.

I'll definitely give Microsoft a call before I blow the money on a new copy of W7.

Here I'll recommend you three way to find out your windows 7 password:
firstly,If you have left a hint when you created the password you can try enter the password a few times and the hint will appear (vista, windows 7) and might remind you what the password is.
secondly,If you have created a password reset disk before,you can recover the previous password with this disk.
thirdly,If you couldn't get back your account with those two methods above, then you'll have to use a software to get back your windows 7 password.

With Windows Password Recovery tool, you can create a reset CD which can be multiple used to reset windows admin password without erasing anything.

You could:

1. Close your eyes very tightly, and try really hard to remember what you used. (By far, the cheapest option.)

2. Go to a hypnotist (that you trust completely) and see if s/he can help you remember it.

3. Never change it again without a way to remember it! ;-)

urgh, No I didnt create a pw reset disk, I didnt put a hint. I just moved, I have no internet to download those password reset programs. I am so not computer savy. Give me a cookbook and I can master every dish in it. Give me a manuel to do anything on the computer and its all foreign to me. I guess I should just hire someone to do it for me. This suxs. Well how come your posting the above comments if you dont have internet or laptop you have to use someone else laptop to download and create a bootable disk.I hope this will help you, go through all the steps and you will get it.If not then hire me lol.
