Friend requests on a different site

The rule about mentioning other websites or not. But on that other site I have been getting friend requests. Maybe I know the person but I don't recognize the name. So if I don't accept it it's because I'm not sure who you are

Methinks you overthink these things too much. A friend request is just that. Means nothing more than you want to stay in touch. Nothing wrong with that, especially if you’d like to get to know the person better before you actually meet. No verification or OK is meant by it.
