So eccie folks, has anyone ventured to the new Colette's club yet? For those who have not heard yet, the old players club has been bought out by Colette's from New Orleans. I think the new location of friend's club is one of the best swing clubs in the state, but now Colette's has bought out players, I am quite curious about what they are changing? so far it just seems they raised the prices, what else is different over there? who has been to Colette's in Dallas or New Orleans? anyone going to the new club, give a rundown of how it is here please. looks like they are copying friend's fetish Friday shtick this week. My first suggestion would be how about creating something new and not stealing another club's regular deal right off the bat? It looks way more expensive for this fetish event. So any eccie feedback from there yet?
Sue, It's not new. It's just Players, redone and renamed with the cooperation of Colletts. They started in Louisiana, then did the same thing with a place in Houston... now they've spread to Austin as well. As for Friends, the location is OK, but there's a back story there I think. I haven't bothered to check the prices of Collett's but it's probably jacked up.
I have been to Colette's in N.O. and it is a very nice club. Well managed. Close to the French Quarter.
I haven't been to Friends or Players in years. I always preferred Friends because it catered to an "older" crowd and, in my opinion, was not as cliquish as Players. I, too, would like to hear about the new place.
For more fun in the swinging life style, I prefer a weekend at places like Live Oak Resort or the Purple Peacock.
Can anyone tell me about Friends? Is it in Austin, or outside the city limits? Is it higher end for a swing club. My friend and I are coming from Houston, and we are looking at Colette's because that was all I found on the net. Any help would be appreciated.
they are open tonight sunday night too for the holiday weekend
I haven't been to friends in so long!
^^^^^^ neither has anyone else.. I think the days are numbered.
no I disagree, actually they are killing it over there at the new location. they are always packed on sat nights and a fair turn out on fridays and wed. nights are still slow. and i know for a fact their numbers are good. they are growing and well attended and making it work at the new club.
I guess we have different definitions of "killing it". so.. One night a week is good and the fri & wed groups are small.. very small.. check your pm's. One night a week of good income is tough to make ends meet.. Electricity alone is tough to cover, much less the building and taxes.. just sayin' , go while you can. He's looking for "investors".
And now that Collettes has moving into town, taking over Players........
I went to the the new Friends on a fetish night. Hardly any people there and the music sucked. As usual. That was it for me. But I hope the owners do well because they are nice folks - just that music was awful.
So which providers do accompaniment to a local swing club and how do you charge for that? Inquiring minds want to know ;-)

Agree 100 percent. I like to dance to flirt and get to feeling frisky - I gotta have a good beat
