Pardon me for getting philosophical here, but why do we call them balls? I think eggs would be much more accurate. They are where we store our seed. They are fragile and should be handled with care, not like a ball which you can bounce against the wall for fun. They are generally oblong or oval, not round. The sack is much like a nest where the eggs are kept warm and protected. Or am I just crazy for thinking about this?

My balls are silly bastards at times........
