Everyone I run into LOVES Christmas music. After 7 years of Retail (Christmas music from Halloween to New Years on a repeating tape loop), I find it numbing at best, aggravating at worst.

Opinions?

Apoligies for the spelling.

I despise it for the most part. at least every fucking time i go to a grocery/retail store and have to listen to the shit while i shop. but there are a lot of cool xmas tunes, like the Brian Setzer version of Blue Christmas i posted a link to in the other xmas music thread.

bottom line... i want to listen to xmas music only when i feel like it. like on xmas day or a holiday get-together of some sort. and i aslo believe it should be legal to shoot your neighbors that put up xmas lights right after halloween.

I hate, hate, hate , hate, hate it. Xmas music or xmas lights before thanksgiving should be illegal. You gun nerds with CHL licenses should be issued special permits to drive around the neighborhoods and shoot out christmas lights that are on before Thanksgiving... now THAT's an NRA-sponsored bill that I could get behind!

NO Xmas-anything before December 1st! Burn down the Costcos (j/k there, homeland security people)! Don't be a victim of retail marketing!

Oh, btw... I like listening to xmas music a few days before and maybe a few days after. Nothing more.

LOL... Good venting thread.
Well then I am a bad, bad girl. I have had my tree up for 2 weeks now. I am a Christmas freak. I love Silent nite, and the good ole Rudolf the red nosed reindeer.

I think that Christmas lights, songs, decorations, etc. are in bad taste in secular places until the weekend that is closest to two weeks before Christmas. In churches, I can live with from the start of advent. Anything else detracts from the spirit of the holiday and is crass commercialism, IMHO.
