Notice they only speak in vague generalities about finding trafficked victims. Because it hardly ever happens. Then they insist their success is low because "they won't talk to them." In reality its bc they can't find hardly anyone and still need to hide behind "human traffiking" bc there is little support for making prostitution a felony.

I have wondered if any of those busted could sue the Holiday Inn where this occurred.

If the hotel had knowledge of what was going down then they acted as an agent of the police and who knows.. sued for allowing this to happen.

Don't think it would be a successful suit but if you can bring the hotel into court suing them for their role in the sting operation and win it will send a message to other hotels to not co-operate with the law via comping them the room etc..

Make it harder for the cops to set up in a hotel and do this sort of thing. Make them do something like they did with 7th star spa. Shut it down, then rename it and re-open with THEIR people inside.

Simple rule about Spa's, no matter where they are located. Once they are busted by the cops and they re-open 1 month or so later... NEVER GO BACK.

as to ur rec for the cop, if the hotel gave up the guest's room # and name without a warrant being presented, then absolutely the guest can sue (usually successfully) for invasion of privacy. most likely DA's case would fail in that scenario as well on the basis of illegal search under 4th amendment.

As for hotels vs cops:
In general, hotels will not give up a guest, unless there's a warrant. However, a cop can get a warrant quickly nowadays. Frankly, hotels toss more "guests" than anyone realizes for violating the room agreement.
Also, most hotels will not rent to cops because of "risk" to other guests (see insurance company closing comment below).
Stings occur in hotels that are locally owned that for some reason cops have an angle to lean on the owner.
In closing, what do you think the hotels insurance company position on this is? It's simple, not allowed. Seriously, do you think cops will actually check their weapons at front desk?
Conclusion:
Play smart, do your reference checks, and do not be the low hanging fruit that LEO is happy to collect.
