I tend to think revolver only because of the magnum capacity and they don't jam up.
The .357 S&W 240 MP seems a good choice. Its not too small but also easily concealed where a 30.07 restriction appears.

Maybe the better question is the best to carry?Yeah, Glock and Sig are good guns. I have a Sig P229 in 40 cal. and a Ruger LC9. The Sig is very accurate more so than Glock in my opinion. The slide spring on Sig is helical where as the slide spring on Glock is single stranded less ejection malfunctions.
