Is $50k too much, too little or is this a bullshit overreaction because it's a proper thing for a coach to do with one of his players.

Would it make a difference to you if the smack was from a coach at the HS and lower level or at the college level?
It would be a huge deal at a non professional level especially towards a minor. I’m ok with the fine. The slap seemed unnecessary.
His timing was horrible coming off the AB fiasco. He deserved the fine. Probably more considering his arrogant attitude when questioned about it.
Arians is starting to come across as someone who thinks he’s smarter then he is.

Nice mix of reactions out of the gate. It was a bit more than a Gibbs slap, and he looked awkward as fuck trying to look like a hardass.

If it's supposed to be a professional league then he can't put his hands on a player like that or strike/elbow even though his guy is acting like a dumbass and pulling players off the pile.

But my coaches used to do the same shit when we did something stupid as a kid and frankly I'm pretty indifferent about the whole thing.

Is Arians stupid? I don’t think so;

He’s in the top echelon of his profession.
Ben had his best years with BA.
Tomlin should bitchslap Claypool, just to name one. What BA did was a nothing burger.

Well, I hate to say it, more "Wokeness" in sports.

In High School, we got our legs paddled from behind, if we weren't pushing the sled fast enough, luckily, that coach quit using the athletic tape wrapped piece of chain he had used in prior years.

Water was withheld, AKA Marine or military style, no water during practice, let alone Gatorade, and, we did three workouts a day.

I was the only person even using Gatorade, I took the powder form, and after every practice I drank 2 full quarts, I think that kept me able to do it.

We would get isolated, two on one drills, for half an hour at a time, one on one dummy drills were common.

At camp, they woke us up at 5.30 by busting into our dorm rooms and using a huge WW2 Air raid siren, and a steel garbage can beaten with a stick.

All that had changed in a few years, as the pussies took over and it became PC not to allow such cruelty.

Of course, the Championship teams went with the harsh, man making programs, and once Marine Corp discipline ended, so did the championships.

We played against Penn Hills, I was the same age as Bill Fralic, took the league title 3 years in a row, once I saw him at Pitt off the field, I was amazed at how big of a human he was.

Fucking moron, and an animal, he beat the shit out of small greek guy delivering pizzas while two other Pitt animals held the guys arms, and, the cops came and arrested the Pizza guy, because he took a swing at Fralic for smashing the top of his delivery pizza down into the pizza.

Anybody else would have been doing time for what he did, but hey, big Pitt Star, and a roid head, what do you expect?
