It's the Economy, Stupid!

Sometimes the trajectory is more important than the destination.

But we mustn't be cynical and think the dim-retards may be secretly rooting for the virus (can't wait for the second wave!) or want to keep us all on lockdown in order to impede the economic recovery. I mean, that would be totally UNCOOL, wouldn't it?

And I'm looking forward to the RNC being held in Texas!

As for the return of the economy ....

if its the economy, what does it have to do with your username
Economist Furman:

“We are about to see the best economic data we’ve seen in the history of this country,” he said.

Dims:

Furman’s counterintuitive pitch has caused some Democrats, especially Obama alumni, around Washington to panic. “This is my big worry,” said a former Obama White House official who is still close to the former president. Asked about the level of concern among top party officials, he said, “It’s high — high, high, high, high.”

The question is, what will they do to assuage their fears? Do they just hope that millions of Americans continue to suffer, or do they actively seek policy that will cause it to happen. Both are incredibly fucked up positions for a ‘public servant’ to hold, with the later being only slightly worse. How someone could vote for a party that doesn’t even try to hide that they put power before people is beyond me.

I saw that on Yahoo news this morning. Then I checked out CNN - nope - no mention. All they report is - bad Donald is not wearing a mask. Wow, just wow.

"Furman noted that there is one major obvious caveat: 'If there’s a second wave of the virus and a really serious set of lockdowns, I wouldn’t expect to see this. But I think the most likely case is the one I just laid out.'"

The state of the economy will hinge on whether people feel comfortable shopping, going back to work, traveling, going to restaurants, etc. If the disease spikes in places, like it did in New York, this may not happen. How can that be prevented? If people wear masks that will help. So will identifying carriers and tracing their contacts, which will lead to more people who have the virus sheltering at home until they're not infectious. Finally, if by some miracle there's a vaccine approved by the FDA before the election, if people are willing to take it that will help too., at least with confidence if not with the actual numbers.

There's irony here. Some of Trump's strongest supporters aren't willing to do any of the above. They're like Rudy Giuliani in the Ukraine, inadvertently working to prevent his re-election.

The Democrats I know seem to be taking this more seriously. So while they may rooting for the virus so Trump will lose, they're doing more to make sure he wins.
