peru has a strange constitutional impeachment setup. I think 5 presidents have been impeached thru this process.

problem here is the legislature, the president and police are corrupt.

it didn't help that peruvian president was an idiot who didn't make sure he the support to pull off a coup.

Trump was motivated by self interest, not ideology. I don't think he would have dissolved Congress, even if fellow Republican Party members and American institutions had permitted it, which they didn't and wouldn't.

You two are correct about Castillo's leaning.

I was talking about his intention (like Trump) to suspend their Constitution.

This was m9revin fun and not meant for Peruvian politics.

I was wrong dolbert in not being clear with my intent.

My apologies to you and my good man, Tiny.

Fair enough WTF. And yes, my biggest complaint about Trump, by far, is that he tried to upend over 200 years of American democracy. By and large, I didn't have a problem with his policies, other than the trade wars and a failure to control spending.

For a while I criticized Trump as much as anyone on this board for the way he handled COVID. But looking back, overall I’m not sure he did much better or worse than many other world leaders. And he and his administration deserve a lot of credit for Operation Warp Speed, and getting FDA approval for the vaccines in record time.
