Venezuela Surpasses Weimar As Hyperinflation Expected To Hit 1,000,000% By Year End
The revised forecast means that as of right now, Venezuela's hyperinflation has officially surpassed the Weimar Republic's, where the highest recorded monthly inflation was a timid 29,500% (resulting in prices doubling ever 3.7 days).
(Zero Hedge)
haven't seen a country with an inflation problem this bad since Italy's Lira.I read something the other day that said there have been only about 70 odd cases of true hyperinflation during the history of the world. It should be extremely uncommon. Governments know what they need to do, stop printing money. Allow interest rates to rise above the inflation rate. It takes an incredible level of stupidity and focus on the short term to let hyperinflation go on year after year, like it is in Venezuela now, and was in Zimbabwe and before then Argentina and Brazil.
I remember a coworker telling me that in the 1970's, he was doing business with an Italian guy and that he was going to bring 1 million lira to him the next day. It was only worth $40 or something like that. Originally Posted by dilbert firestorm
